Filipino John Jeffrey Carlos won the Mr. Gay World 2019 title

Philippines’ representative John Jeffrey “Janjep” Carlos was crowned Mr. Gay World 2019 during the recent pageant in South Africa. 

Indeed, the beauty pageant is one of the most celebrated triumphs in Filipino culture. Pinoys are making names in the world of pageantry whether it is for women, men or even for gays.

Janjep reigned above his fellow contenders during the competition. Based on the report from ABS-CBN, he bested 21 other candidates last May 5 (May 5 in Manila).

In his introduction video, the Filipino contestant talked about his advocacy – mental awareness. He also elaborated the endeavors he did to promote his advocacy.

Particularly, he is aiming to fight depression which has become so rampant but many have a little knowledge about.

“Depression is real, and it has caused the tragic loss of lives. Depression is a real illness that can be treated if properly diagnosed. With love and understanding of people undergoing depression, this illness can be transformed into wellness,” Janjep Carlos said.

The Filipino did a great job in representing the country as he was the one who won the Mr. Gay World 2019 title. He succeeded the crown from Australia’s Jordan Bruno.
