Palauig, Zambales hit by 3.7 magnitude earthquake

The municipality of Palauig in the province of Zambales experienced a 3.7 magnitude earthquake on May 6, 2019.

These past few days, the Philippines has been experiencing a series of earthquakes. Last April 22, a 6.1 magnitude quake hit Luzon. Following that day, the quake with the magnitude of 6.5 has shaken Eastern Samar in the Visayas. On April 24, Davao Oriental in Mindanao was hit by a 4.7 magnitude quake.

Following this series of “lindol”, the country continues to feel the shaking of the ground in different areas and in different magnitudes.

The recent was a 3.7 magnitude earthquake in Palauig, Zambales. According to a report from Inquirer, the quake happened at 5:27 in the morning.

Based on the data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake had a depth of 21 kilometers and tectonic origin.

The quake which happened on Monday morning is not expected to cause damage. In addition, aftershocks are not expected to happen.
