This year is no different from the past years. Filipino films still made it to the international screens.

Right now, (April 26, 2019) the 21st Far East Film Fest that will be held in Italy. And to showcase the creativity of FIlipino films, we actually have five entries for the international film fest.

Last Thursday, the Film Development Council Of The Philippines or FDCP revealed the five film entries. Here are the four entries for competition:

  • “Hintayan ng Langit” by Dan Villegas
  • “Miss Granny” by Joyce Bernal
  • “Eerie” by Mikhail Red and,
  • “Signal Rock” by Chito S. Roño

This is based on an article from Inquirer. Based on the article,

“Nunal sa Tubig” by Ishmael Bernal will also be included as one of the restored classics to be screened during the festival.

Liza Diño, FDCP’s chairperson, expressed the council’s gladness towards being able to support local film producing in her statement:

“We are always glad that we could be of assistance to our very own filmmakers who made it to international film festivals to represent Philippine cinema.”

Diño also recognized that the Philippines was the ‘country of focus’ during the film festival last year. She released a statement of gratitude towards Far East Film Fest for allowing different films from all over the world to showcase their films each year.

“Last year, the Philippines was chosen as the Country of Focus in the Far East Film Festival as part of the celebration of the One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema, and we are pleased that the festival continues to showcase different voices from around the world by including Filipino films in their lineup this year.” – Liza Diño

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
