A Filipino Priest Said Notre Dame Catherdral Is Mankind’s Patrimony
FILIPINO PRIEST – Fr. Melvin Castro, diocese of Tarlac’s chancellor, said on Tuesday that the damaged church was not only Catholic Church’s patrimony but also mankind’s.

Father Melvin Castro said in a phone interview with News To Go by GMA TV, that the cathedral symbolizes Catholicism in France and it was also considered as one of the world’s heritage sites because it is a patrimony for the whole world.
Fr. Castro also added that he was able to visit the 800-year-old prayer site twice. Mesmerized by the aesthetics of the rose stained-glass windows, he fears that it might be totally damaged.
He expressed his appreciation towards the church’s beautiful windows in his statement:
“As a pilgrim, ang pinaka hindi ko makakalimutan diyan na nakakatakot na baka ‘yun ang nasira totally ‘yung tinatawag na rose stained glasses niya. ‘Yun talaga ang dinadayo sapagkat napakaganda nung stained glasses niya na hundreds of years na… ‘Yung sinag ng araw pag tinamaan ‘yan talagang heavenly…”
or “As a pilgrim, the one thing I could never forget and I fear that it might be totally ruined, is the one they call rose stained-glasses. That’s really what people go there for because the rose stained-glasses that were there for hundreds of years are really beautiful. Especially when sun rays hit the glasses, it’s really heavenly.”
The Cathedral had so much history, being to able to survive through the French Revolution back in the 18th century and rising to popularity in 1831 after “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” by Victor Hugo came out.
He also referred to the Cathedral as the heart of all churches in France.
