The Department Of National Defense Reported Together With AFP That They Are Prepared
AFP READY TO DEFEND – After the reports of alleged invasions of Chinese vessels in the waters around West Philippines Sea, DND released a statement saying they are ready to defend the country’s sovereignty.
There has been numerous reports regarding the actions taken by countries around West Philippine Sea to resolve dispute. Read more about the history of the dispute here.
The China and Philippine’s dispute has been heating up again this year based on previous reports.
Recently, the Philippine government filed a diplomatic protest against China for deploying marine vessels to the waters of Pag-asa Island.
On Tuesday, several protesters marched to the Chinese embassy in Manila to express their opposition against Beijing’s vessels presence around the disputed area.
According to an article from Inquirer, the protesters also expressed discontentment towards government loans from China that came with controversial conditions.
In line with this, the Department of Defense released this statement:
“The DND and AFP stand ready to defend Philippine sovereignty and enforce our laws within our territory. This includes the Municipality of Kalayaan, which is part of the province of Palawan.”
Blatantly expressing the country’s readiness to protect sovereignty against intruders when push comes to shove.
They also said that they are ready to use ‘whatever resources and means’ at their disposal to defend the land when called upon by the National Command Authority.
Here is DND’s official statement based on the same article the Inquirer:
“While we denounce war as an instrument of national policy, we will use whatever resources and means at our disposal to defend our own if and when we are called to action by the National Command Authority.”
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
