Over the past few weeks, the Republic Act No. 11235 or known as the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act has been one of the most controversial topics online.
The Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act or called as ‘Doble Plaka’ urges the motorists to install two large plate numbers on their motorcycles (Front & Rear).
The bill aims to reduce the rate of criminality and riding in tandem incidents in the country involving motorcycles.
The motorcycle riders expressed their disappointment and sentiments towards the bill concerning about their safety.
On weekend, thousands of Filipino motorists nationwide held a unity ride showing opposition to the ‘Doble Plaka’ bill.
Recently, the Facebook page Manila Bulletin has shared the photo of the proposed design of the controversial new motorcycle plates.
In the photo, it can be seen that the size of the new plate would be 198mm x 220mm while the font size would be 70mm x 34mm.
“LTO open for suggestion from motorcycle groups on the design of the new plates,” Galvante said.
