Cyberlibel Case w/ 8 Years Imprisonment Sentenced Against 2 Radio Blocktimers

Two radio blocktimers have been sentence by the regional trial court with eight years’ imprisonment due to cyberlibel case.

The regional trial court in North Cotabato ruled an eight years imprisonment against two blocktime broadcasters for maligning North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza online.

Larry Subillaga and Eric Rodinas were accusing Mendoza of corruption and pocketing government funds of the province.

Cyberlibel Case

Mendoza files cyberlibel charges against Subillaga and Rodinas for making those corruption accusations on Facebook.

On March 23, 2019, Judge Jose Tabosares of RTC Branch 23 in Kidapawan City, the capital of North Cotabato sentenced Rodinas and Subillaga as guilty.

Tabosares found Rodinas and Subillaga guilty for allegedly violating the Republic Act 10175 or known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Cyberlibel Case

The radio blocktime broadcasters get eight years of imprisonment and fine of P1 million each.

The two were not yet giving any comments and statements regarding the issue.
