PAGASA Releases Latest Update on Typhoon Wutip
The state weather bureau PAGASA said that Typhoon Wutip was expected to enter PAR this and would be given a local name “Betty”.
On Monday (February 25, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest updates about Typhoon Wutip.
PAGASA said that Wutip was last located along 1,740 km of east of southern Luzon moving closer to the country’s vicinity.
Wutip carrying maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 225 kph.
PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong described that typhoon as very strong but unlikely to develop into a super typhoon.
The weather disturbance is slowly moving at a northwest direction and expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday (February 25, 2019).
However, the typhoon might also weaken into a tropical storm before entering the Philippine territory, according to the weather agency.
As of now, Wutip has no direct effect to any parts of the country aside from the northeast monsoon that would bring cloudy weather conditions and isolated light rains in some areas.
