Erik Matti alarmed over flop results of most local films now.

ERIK MATTI – The Pinoy film director Erik Matti expressed sentiments about rate of flop local movies nowadays which deeply alarmed him.

Pinoy filmmaker Erik Matti is among the most-recognized movie directors of today. He directed films such as On The Job, Honor Thy Father, Seklusyon, Buy Bust, Rigodon, Pa-Siyam, Rounin, Exodus: Tales From The Enchanted Kingdom, and many more.

He is set to do the Darna film with Liza Soberano but apparently left and now, he is set to direct a horror film with the Megastar Sharon Cuneta, a fresh genre to be offered from the seasoned actress.

And as a film director, the flop results of the local films nowadays alarmed him and he even expressed his sentiments about it citing several factors which probably have contributed in any way as reasons behind the flop rates.

“The state of our film industry, the business of it, is in a dire situation. Someone should do something about it. Government should intervene. This is not a slow death anymore. We are on life support and we need resuscitation. No more pointing fingers. I think we’re beyond that at this point. This is a plea for help,” the filmmaker has indicated in the first paragraph of his post on Facebook.

Accordingly, the past three years, the film industry was on its busiest years but no one saw their movies except for the “sporadic mega hits”. A lot of movies has been made but even the big studios were not able to make business about it.

Their movies were not able to make a good result despite all their marketing strategies done and promising plots and also, he revealed that the MMFF was not able to do big business about their films recently unlike before. He said, “Even MMFF no matter how much they claim with pride that it was a hit, it wasn’t. It didn’t make as much money as the previous years.”
