An inspiring story of an Ilongga OFW who successfully done the “ipon challenge”

Jalyn Navio, 39 years old, an Ilongga OFW in Hong Kong went viral for doing the “ipon challenge” successfully.

After attending the Financial Literacy Seminar of CARD Hong Kong Foundation, Jalyn, who is a nursing graduate, was inspired to save money.

According to the Facebook post of netizen Jennifer Palomo Debaja, the OFW was able to save $21,760 or Php 140,000 pesos within six months.

Jalyn put her savings inside a big plastic bottle from her
HK$ 8,200 or Php 54,000 pesos monthly salary. She sends P10, 000 every month for her relative’s educational allowance.

The Ilongga OFW started working in Hong Kong in 2002 without the knowledge of her parents, initially.

According to the post, Jalyn used to be fond of shopping before and treating her friends in restaurants. However, she is now thinking for her future, especially if the time comes that she will decide to retire.

Behind her unsuccessful marriage with her former husband who is a seaman, the OFW finds inspiration from her desire to have her own business.

After this, Jalyn wants to continue doing the “ipon challenge” with not just $20 notes but she will include $50 notes.

The Ilongga OFW is definitely excited for the outcome.
