Education Department Calls the Attention of the Public About Bullying After the Ateneo Incident
The Department of Education (DepEd) calls the attention of public regarding bullying after the Ateneo incident involving high school students.
The Education Department urged the public to immediately report any form of bullying and discrimination.
DepEd’s statement came after the bullying incident happened at the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).
The Ateneo kid bully identified as Joaquin Montes was bullied and mauled his fellow student inside the school’s comfort room.
The victim endured wounds and injuries in the face after Montes intentionally threw kicks and punches.
Deped Director for Legal Services Suzette Medina urged the report any incident of bullying.
“Makialam at magsumbong. “Hindi po puwedeng tumawa, makitawa, kasi baka po ang akala rin ng mga bully ay nakakatawa. Baka akala po nila ay OK lang po. Physical, mental, emotional, lahat po that can harm another person, that is already bullying,” dagdag nito,” Medina said.
Medina also advised those who are experiencing bullying to avoid and never respond to the bullies.
