Duterte Inaugurates the Bohol-Panglao International Airport, First Eco-Airport in the Philippines

DUTERTE – President Duterte led the inauguration ceremony of Bohol-Panglao International airport, the first eco-airport in the Philippines.

The Philippines’ busiest airports are the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and the Clark International Airport.

Lots of foreign tourists visit the country for having a bunch of beautiful tourist spots such as beaches, mountains, and exotic food.

One of those Philippines’ famous tourist spot is in Bohol which is known for its Chocolate Hills, Panglao beach, and Tarsiers.

Pres. Duterte and his government made a move with regards to Bohol’s trend of gathering tourists from all over the world. They made it easier for local and abroad tourist to visit with less hassle by building an airport.

Bohol is located just near the Queen City of the South Cebu where tourist from all over the world mostly come to visit, do business, or even reside.

Based on a report from GMA, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) revealed that the Bohol-Panglao Airport costs P8.9 billion. The brand new airport will be ready for business after the inauguration on November 27, 2018.

President Duterte led the inauguration of the Bohol-Panglao International airport and also the first eco-airport in the Philippines.

The latest airport is an ecological friendly establishment and it was labeled as the “Green Gateway to the World”. The 11-hectare land is landscaped with 1,700 trees, a thousand shrubs, and covered with grass.

Bohol Airport uses solar energy that powers the water supply system. The concept prevents the airport to discharge 18 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.

Based on the report, DOTr Director Goddess Hope Libiran said the previous administration pinned that the construction will be finished in 2021. When Duterte took over last 2016, the building of the airport fell around 50% and was finished earlier.

President Duterte is surely very proud of his administration for providing his people and the country’s visitor a very innovative and economizing airport.
