Entertainment columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis finally revealed her emotion on the 1994 Manila Film Fest scam.
The said scam created a loud buzz in show business that time which was considered as one of the biggest controversy in the industry.
Based on the article in Inquirer, Lolit manipulated the result for the Best Actor and Best Actress.
Edu Manzano and Aiko Melendez were supposed to be the winners. On the other hand, the Lolit changed it to Gabby Concepcion and Ruffa Gutierrez who were her talents.
Before and during the controversy
On her recent Instagram post, the veteran talent manager shared what she felt during that time.
She also shared the effect of the scam to her life and status in show business.
Lolit Solis, as a casting director in awards ceremony, felt like she was the queen because she got to choose who will be included in the cast.
“For so many years sa akin ipinagkatiwala iyon trabahong iyon, hanggang nagawa ko isang malaking pagkakamali sa buhay ko, iyon SCAM,” she said.
After that, she was no longer doing the job because of what she did. That was indeed a down moment for her in the industry.
She had to refrain from going to awards night because she thought that people might think she will do a scam again.
What happened also broke her heart.
“Ang tagal kong iniyakan na wala na ako sa mga preparation ng awards night, hindi na ako pumupunta sa parada ng filmfest, hindi na ako reyna-reynahan sa mga gabi ng parangal,” Lolit shared.
After the storm
She had to endure the consequence of what she did even though she really loved the perks of her job as a casting director.
Behind what happened, Lolit Solis shared what she learned. She learned to stood up after that painful fall.
The talent manager became stronger because she learned her lesson in a tough way.
