Former Rebels Tagged In Murdering Negros Farmers

At least four former rebels were tagged in the controversial murder of nine farm workers in Barangay Bulanon Sagay, Negros Occidental.

Previously, the National Democratic Front (NDF)-Negros spokesman Frank Fernandez accused the ex-New People Army (NPA) rebels as armed men of several landlords in northern Negros.

NDF-Negros was accusing Vito Lutrago, Eduardo Linogon, Rexi Robles and a certain Rako of being involved in the crime.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Consolacion Espinosa and Sagay Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto presented the ex-rebels who were saying that they and their family have been receiving death threats.

Last month, the four ex-reds seek protection from the government but they are still considered as suspects after denying the accusations.

The former communist also asked President Rodrigo Duterte to investigate a lawmaker they did not identify claiming it was a drug lord.

303rd Infantry Brigade commander Col. Benedict Arevalo said that the Senate and the House of Representatives must include the lawmaker in the investigation.
