Unidentified Gunmen Gunned Down The Lawyer of Slain Negros Farmers
The lawyer of murdered Negros farmers was shot dead by unidentified-riding assailants at Roxas Street, Barangay 5 in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental.
On late Tuesday (November 6, 2018), Lawyer Benjamin Ramos has been shot by unidentified suspects in Roxas Street, Barangay and died after enduring 3 gunshot wounds.
The initial information released by the police revealed that motorcycle-riding assailants shoot the lawyer and died at the hospital.
The lawyer is the secretary general of the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) Negros Occidental chapter.
He is also one of those who helped the farmers after the 9 sugarcane workers in Negros Occidental have been killed at Hacienda Nene in the town of Sagay last month.
NUPL wrote on the port that Ramos is also a pro-bono lawyer of activists, political prisoners, mass organizations, environmentalists, and peasants in the province of Negros.
However, the police also tagged Ramos as a member of an underground armed movement in a public poster.
The organization said that the death of the lawyer distressed all of them.
