Earthquake with 4.8 Magnitude Brings Damage to Iloilo Church

EARTHQUAKE – A 4.8 magnitude earthquake that recently hit Iloilo left a church damaged.

Recently, lots of people residing in Western Visayas were brought fear by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Iloilo. It is another quake that recently hit areas in the Philippines aside from the one that jolted San Jose, Antique.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the said quake had its epicenter in Guimbal, Iloilo. It is a tectonic origin quake that struck at 10:54:06 in the morning today, November 5, 2018.

Shaking was undeniably felt by many people based on the claims of netizens on social media. In Cebu City, Intensity II was felt while Intensity IV was felt in Iloilo.

The 4.8 magnitude earthquake left damages to structures in Iloilo including a church in Alimodian.

Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page of Bombo Radyo Iloilo, the incident left the Parish of St. Thomas damaged. The said Parish is located in Villanova Alimodian, Iloilo.

Based on the photos posted, the 4.8 magnitude quake left the Iloilo church with cracked walls.

Debris scattered on the floor and it also affected the confessional box inside the church.

As of this writing, there are no official reports of injuries caused by the quake. Many are hopeful that the residents on the affected areas are safe and equipped with the necessary things to be done in case of such circumstances.
