Celebrities Derek Ramsay, John Estrada and Priscilla Meirelles found a formula that will fight against mosquitoes.
The diseases that mosquitoes bring in the lives of humans are major health problems not only in the Philippines but around the globe.
These tiny but dangerous insects are thriving in wet, tropical climates.
Based on the article published in Inquirer, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 69,088 new dengue cases in the Philippines. Last year, there were 131,827 cases.
As one of those who suffered from dengue, Derek Ramsay said that he does not want anyone to experience what happened to him.
In case of Priscilla Meirelles and John Estrada, their 6-year old daughter, Sammanta Anechka. always comes home from school with mosquito bites.
When Dr. Francois Martin, a French entomologist and researcher who developed an anti-mosquito technology in the Philippines called Kyzox approached Priscilla for a possible endorsement, that was the time the trio said this will be a great opportunity to help prevent the deadly diseases caused by the insect.
“After hearing of Dr. Martin’s efforts, about the difficulty of putting it out there for widespread use, we wondered why people are blocking this. We could give this to the poor, it would be such a gift,” Derek pointed out.
He added with jest that John is the most paranoid parent in the world. Derek Ramsay also stressed out that mosquitoes do not choose their victims whatever the life’s status.
Based on the website of Kyzox, it is all organic and safe for humans and pets. It was said it is also not harmful for newborns and pregnant women.
Aside from mosquitoes, it is also known to kill cockroaches, flies, bed bugs, ants and spiders, based on the article.
“I lived in the middle of the Amazon, where there’s all kinds of mosquito-borne diseases. Everyone in my family has had dengue except me. Then Dr. Martin said a lot people do not even know they’ve had dengue, perhaps because they didn’t exhibit the symptoms [since they had a strong immune system]. But if you get it the second time, it’s worse. The third time could be fatal,” Priscilla Meirelles said.
John Estrada added “We could sell it to property developers and manufacturers [of detergents, lotions and house paints], but we want to do it for the masa first and sell it to the hardware stores in the barangay,”
