Meet Sofia Loren Deliu, a female cop and a former beauty contestant who is now the new aide of President Rodrigo Duterte.
President Duterte appoints Senior Insp. Sofia Loren Deliu as his new aide after the special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go resigned.
Bong Go resigned as Duterte’s top aide because he will run for the Senatorial race in the upcoming elections next year.
On Wednesday (October 24, 2018), Mr. Duterte announced the new task of Deliu who will replace Go’s position.
“She’s Bong’s replacement. Stand up… Face them. Stand up,” Duterte said while introducing Deliu to the audience.
Mr. Duterte stood as godfather during the wedding of Sofia to her husband P/Insp. Abdul-Bassar Abdurajak in March 2018.
Deliu was also promoted as captain aside from her appointment as the new aide of the president.
Duterte’s new aide is a Filipina-Romanian member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who joined the Ms. Earth-Philippines competition in 2015.
The former beauty contestant will not be called as Special Assistant to the President or will not have a Cabinet rank.
The president will no longer appoint new SAP and two people are reportedly handling the functions of Bong Go.
