DTI Announces Puregold Supermarket Set To Sell NFA Rice

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said that Puregold Supermarket will sell NFA rice for less-fortunate Filipinos in the next few weeks.

Trade Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Ruth Castelo said that the National Food Authority (NFA) Council approved the license of Puregold Price Club to sell state-subsidized NFA rice.

Puregold will sell NFA rice in prices ranging between P27 and P32 per kilo on their retail outlets across the country.

“The NFA Council already approved Puregold’s license, yesterday,” Castelo said during a dialogue in Pasay City.

Castelo said that the popular supermarket is selling NFA on 2-kilogram packs in the upcoming weeks.

DTI aims to make state-subsidized rice available in many outlets as possible to reduce the price of the commercial varieties.

Duterte administration has also intensified the importation of rice to resolve the increasing prices of commercial rice, which sells for P42 to P70 per kilo.
