Katarina Rodriguez Wins The Crown for Miss World Philippines 2018
The Miss World Philippines 2018 crown was brought home by the Davaoeño beauty, Ms. Katarina Rodriguez.
The MTV VJ Katarina Sonja Rodriguez finished as 1st runner-up for Miss Intercontinental 2017 and pursued joining Miss World Philippines 2018.
Miss World Philippines 2018 will pick three girls to represent the Philippines for three different international pageants. The titles were Miss Multinational Philippines, Miss Eco-Philippines, and Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas crown.
The prestigious event was hosted by Ruffa Gutierrez, Carla Abellana, at Francisco Escobar at the Mall of Asia Arena last Sunday, October 7.
40 beautiful deserving contestants aimed for the title Miss World Philippines 2018. Katarina Rodriguez won the crown with her splendid performance.
Based on the report from ABS-CBN, in the beauty pageant’s question and answer portion, Katrina was asked how she can change people’s opinion who see beauty pageant as a form of exploitation.
“One should live by example and not by opinion, and I would like to admit I was one of those before until I learned more about what beauty pageants are about.
One thing I can tell you is that you may think this is very competitive, but in fact, you’ll understand beauty pageants when you know that it is actually not competitive towards the other women, it’s competitive towards yourself, and it’s all about women empowerment, and you can feel that in this group of girls, each girl knows that we are all individually beautiful,” she answered.

Based on the report, aside from winning the title as Miss World Philippines, Katarina also won the titles Best in Long Gown, Miss Resorts World Manila, Beach Beauty Challenge winner, and Miss Blue Water Day Spa.
The top 5 winners were Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez for Miss Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, Maureen Montagne for Miss Eco International Philippines, Kimi Mugford for Miss Multinational Philippines, Chanel Morales for 1st Princess, and Pearl Hung 2nd Princess.
Katarina Rodriguez will represent for the Philippines at the upcoming Miss World 2018 in Sanya, China.
