Ex-Antipoverty Chief Liza Maza Says More Families Fall To Poverty Line Due to TRAIN Law

Ex-Antipoverty Secretary Liza Maza said that more families are getting poor and falling into the poverty line due to the government’s TRAIN law.

Maza said that the implementation of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act makes more Filipino families live in poverty.

The former antipoverty chief also called for the quick repeal of the new tax reform law since more Filipinos are getting poor because of the increasing price of commodities.

“I stand with calls for a truly progressive tax system, one that is based on an individual’s capacity to pay. We can no longer deny the ongoing crisis, and the government must take immediate and concrete steps to address this,” Maza said quoted by Inquirer.
