Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte reportedly cited that the granting of amnesty is a “prerogative” of the President. According to him, it should not be delegated to other officials.

The 73-year-old President, the Philippine National Police, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines decided to wait for the decision of the court over the case.

Makati Regional Trial Court Branch did not issue a warrant of arrest against Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV. Along with the advice of his fellow lawmakers, the Senator is currently staying under the custody of the Senate.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, through a statement, the Senator revealed some of the members of his legal team over the amnesty issue. According to him, all the members of the team “volunteered”.

Sen. Trillanes named former University of the Philippines College of Law Dean Pacifico Agabin and law professor Joselito Chan. Based on the report, he also named former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay and his legal counsel Reynaldo Robles.
