The around heel-floodwater level lasts for nearly one hour resulting to inconvenience at the newly-opened terminal.

“At the time of the incident, a rework of the gutter by the contractor was ongoing. The contractor had incorrectly installed the gutter system that was designed for the link bridge. This is the reason for the link bridge and drop-off zone being unduly exposed to rain,” GMCAC said quoted by Philstar.

GMCAC said that the contractor improperly installed the gutters, which did not meet the actual design.

The corporation explained that they had only discovered the issue in mid-July and pro Mactan-Cebu International Airportmised that the flooding incident would not be repeated.

The company is currently making a corrective work to connect the rainwater from the link bridge canopy back to the rainwater drainage system.

The final rectification of the gutter reconstruction was expected to be accomplished by August 20, 2018.
