Death Toll From Japan Rains Rises To 75

JAPAN RAINS – According to an official tally this Monday, the number of deaths caused by Japan rains reached 75.

The recent rain in Japan caused serious flooding and devastated areas in western and central parts of the country. Dozens of people are still missing until now from the rain. The record of the number of people left by the incident dead is also increasing based on the official tally.

A netizen posted this on Facebook. It shows the rapid rising of the water washing away everything that stood its way.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned of a “race against time” in rescuing victims who are caught in the flood.

According to Channel News Asia, more than two million people have been told to evacuate but many remained at home as the orders were not mandatory, thus, becoming trapped by the sudden flood.

Over 50,000 workers have been ordered to respond to the incident, which submerged most houses and buildings. The death toll of the recent Japan rains passed the rain record in 2014 when it left 74 people dead in the Hiroshima region.

82-year-old Nobue Kakumoto, a long-time resident, said that the area became an ocean.

“I’m worried because I have no idea how long it will stay like this,” he added.

Furthermore, Eiichi Tsuiki, a 69-year-old oyster farmer evacuated at the top floor according to the report. Even rescuers and officers find the flood overwhelming.

“I’ve lived here for 40 years … I’ve never seen this before,” Eiichi expressed.

Mutsunari Imawaka, a spokesman for the PDMO, said that by Sunday morning, around 1,000 people were in need to be rescued by they don’t have a “complete picture” of the incident yet.
