Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat Asks COA To Conduct Probe On Cesar Montano’s ‘Buhay Carinderia’ Project
The Department of Tourism (DOT) secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has asked OA to investigate Cesar Montano’s ‘Buhay Carinderia’ project.
On Thursday (May 17, 2018), Puyat asked the Commission on Audit (COA to investigate ‘Buhay Carinderia’ project of Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) led by the actor Cesar Montano.
TBP’s Chief Operating Officer Cesar Montano project will be suspended until COA gives their findings, according to Puyat.
“I wrote COA Chairman Aguinaldo asking him to review ‘Buhay Carinderia.’ We can discuss the program, but I think this already up to the Commission on Audit… In the meantime, we will not continue with the project until the COA gives their findings,” Puyat said quoted by CNN.
Montano faces several issues and controversies for releasing about 90 percent of the P80 million budget for the project in less than a month although the project was still far from completion.
Puyat also asked COA to review the other projects of TBP citing that the ‘Buhay Carinderia’ project did not go through bidding.
The newly appointed Tourism Secretary also defended the role of Montano as TBP head believing that he did everything in good faith, but explained that it’s up to COA.
