Chief Justice Carpio Says Losing West PH Sea To China Is The Gravest Threat Since World War II

Chief Justice Antonio Carpio said that losing the West Philippine Sea to China might be the gravest threat to the country since World War 2.War 2.

On Friday (April 20, 2018), Carpio had his commencement speech at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City and warned the Filipino people, that if the Philippines would lose the resource-rich waters to nuclear-armed China they would totally lose it forever.

Carpio said that if it would happen it might be the gravest external threat to the Philippines since the Second World War.

“If we lose this huge maritime area, we lose it forever. This generation and future generations of Filipinos will never be able to recover this vast area with all its rich natural resources,” Carpio said quoted by Inquirer.

Justice Carpio explained that the Constitution tasked President Rodrigo Duterte and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to lead in defending the maritime zones and Philippines national territory.

The chief justice stressed that the future generations of Filipino should defend the West Philippines and do not let China seize the rich waters.
