Philippines & China Signs Documents On Filipino Teachers Employment, Davao Expressway, And Others

Both Philippines and China have signed documents on possible Davao expressway, employment of Filipino teachers, and other deals.

On Tuesday (April 10, 2018), President Rodrigo Duterte has attended the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan, China.

The Chinese and Philippine government officials have signed the documents containing a mix of memoranda and letters in the presence of President Duterte and Chinese Leader Xi Jinping.

The signed documents tackle possible expressway in Davao City, an agri-tech center, use of broadcast equipment, and employment of Filipinos teaching English language.

The documents contain:

  • Memorandum of Understanding on the Employment of Filipino Teachers of English Language in China (between the Department of Labor and Employment and Chinese embassy in the Philippines)
  • Exchange of Letters for the Pre-Feasibility Study of the Proposed Davao City Expressway Project (between the Department of Public Works and Highways and Chinese Ministry of Commerce)
  • Exchange of Letters for Broadcasting Equipment (between the Presidential Communications Operations Office and Chinese Ministry of Commerce)
  • Exchange of Letters on the Phase III of the Technical Cooperation Project for the Filipino-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (between the Department of Finance and Chinese Ministry of Commerce)
  • Exchange of Letters on Economic and Technical Cooperation (between the Department of Finance and Chinese Ministry of Commerce)

Meanwhile, around 10 Chinese companies have expressed interest in investing in the Philippines during the state visit of Duterte in China.
