Justice Prosecutors Who Clear Kerwin & Lim From Drug Charges Might Face Suspension

The Justice prosecutors who dismissed Kerwi Espinosa, Peter Lim, and other personalities from drug charges might face suspension for their decision.

The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) said in a 15-page resolution dated March 23 recommends President Rodrigo Duterte to suspend the Justice Department prosecutors who decided to clear the notorious drug personalities from charges.

PACC recommends the suspension of assistant state prosecutor Michael John Humarang, senior assistant state prosecutor Rassendell Rex Gingyon and former acting prosecutor-general Jorge Catalan.

The Commission said that the Supreme Court should urge Lucena City judge Aristotle Reyes to undergo a lifestyle check.

The agency also suggests that the prosecutors should be charged with violation of Section 3(e) of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act for allegedly failing to set a meeting to clarify the issues regarding the cases against Espinosa, Lim, and other drug suspects.

The DOJ panel of prosecutors has dismissed of charges against Lim, Espinosa, and other suspects due to alleged inconsistencies and lack of evidence.

Meanwhile, PACC revealed that they are filing three resolutions that will urge all government officials under Salary Grade 26 to undergo a lifestyle check.
