Voter Registration For May 2018 Elections Resumes on November 6

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the voter registration for May 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections will resume on November 6, 2017.

Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said in an interview that the voter registration will be conducted nationwide, except in the Province of Lanao del Sur.

Comelec stated in a resolution dated October 24, 2017, that the voter registration will start on Nov. 6 up to 30, 2017.

“In view of the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), there is a need to resume the conduct of registration of voters for the members of the Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) who will reach fifteen (15) years old pursuant to Republic Act No. 10742 and regular voters for the Barangay in connection with the May 14, 2018 Synchronized BSKE,” Resolution No. 10214 said.

According to Comelec, the applications for registration, reactivation, change or correction of entries, inclusion or reinstatement of records in the list of voters, shall be personally filed at the Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) of the city, district, municipality where the applicant resides.

Applications will only be accommodated during office hours, from 8 AM to 5 PM, Mondays to Saturdays including holidays.

Based on the report published by Manila Bulletin, it noted that OEOs may conduct satellite/offsite registration during the period of registration.

The report added that no applications for transfer of registration records shall be filed and be processed in this year’s voter registration.
