Grade 8 Student In Negros Occidental Commits Suicide Due To Teacher’s Wrong Move

A teacher’s wrong move and cyberbullying have prompted a grade 8 student in Bago City, Negros Occidental to commit suicide.

The Facebook page “Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Bacolod” has shared the story of a 15-year-old Eric Hain Demafilez who committed suicide On Wednesday (October 11, 2017) because of his teacher’s wrong decision.

Demafilez was a grade 8 student of Ramon Torres National High School went out of their house in Prk. Acasia, Brgy. Napoles around 6 am in the morning without wearing his school uniform but returned to their home around 1 pm in the afternoon.

After a few moments, Jesselyn, Eric’s sister was shocked upon seeing the lifeless body of his brother after hanging himself. The family of the victim can’t understand why did their son took his own life.

Around 6 pm on Wednesday, Army, Eric’s cousin report the incident to Bago City PNP as a requirement from embalming the victim’s body. Army presented the photo of Eric to the authorities and found out that the victim has been blotter for allegedly stealing the iPad of his classmate.

The authorities also revealed that Eric was subject to an entrapment operation after his teacher brought him to the police station and ended up on police blotters regarding the allegations.

Army also revealed that the victim got embarrassed on the allegation thrown against him and suffered online bullying on the Facebook page “RTNHS SPOTTER”.

Meanwhile, Demafilez’ Facebook account has been deactivated and no longer available. The identity of the teacher, principal and the name of the school has been hidden for their own protection.

The victim was an academic achiever, which was saddened his family.

  1. The teacher should be investigated about the veracity of his/her accusation. The boy is an achiever and exposing him to public shaming and cyberbullying is such a painful experience for him to think of co
    mitting suicide. Teen stage is a very delicate stage and teachers should be the first person to exemplify righteousness and comp(removed)ion rather than be vindictive .
