Palace Declared December 19 Special Holiday in Muntinlupa

Malacañang Palace has declared December 19, 2017, as a special non-working holiday in Muntinlupa as it commemorates its 100 year anniversary.

President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has signed Proclamation No. 327 on October 4 declaring special non-working day in Muntinlupa.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Muntinlupa be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” Medialdea said.

Among the events that will take place in Muntinlupa on the 19th day of December is Thanksgiving Mass at the Muntinlupa City Hall Grounds in Putatan and a Centennial Festival at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan.

Inauguration of Centennial Avenue, Centennial Art Contest, city-wide Boodle Fight, Centennial March, Centennial Motocross and Centennial Festival of Muntinlupa Entrepreneurs are among the activities conducted by Muntinlupa for its year-long founding anniversary.

According to a report published by Manila Bulletin, it was on 19, 1917 when Muntinlupa became a municipality through Executive Order 108 which was signed by Governor General Francis Burton Harris.
