According to a report from the ABS-CBN News, Winwyn said that being the very first Pinay to compete at such beauty pageant, she will surely do her best.

She actually indicated, “I’m just happy kasi I’m going to be the first Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas candidate, first ever Filipina to compete sa Bolivia. I’m going to fly, I think, end of October.”

“I’m pretty nervous but it’s good na rin na malapit na siya kasi yung momentum ko nandoon pa rin. But I’m still going to train,” she further explained.

She even promised that if learning Spanish is one of the requirements to join the prestigious beauty contest, she will study it.

However, in an interview, she said that, for all she knows, learning Spanish is not really a requirement but then she has to confirm it yet.

She added, “Pero if anything else, laban!”

Winwyn is the first Filipina to be in the said competition and Philippines is also the very first Asian country to join the said pageant.

She will prove that a Pinay can also conquer those kinds of beauty contests considering that the Philippines has been under the colonization of the Spaniards for more than three hundred years.

“I joined the pageant not expecting anything. Sabi ko I’m going to enjoy. I’m going to show people what I’ve got. I’m going to perform and I’m going to show people na I can answer well, that I’m ready. So God’s will siguro talaga. Sobrang overwhelmed,” she indicated.

And when she was asked what was the reaction of her family over her victory, her response is, “They were jumping up and down. Ang sarap lang tignan kasi pati sila alam kung gaano ako ka-hungry for a crown. Alam nila kung gaano ako nag-train for this night, so when I saw that, sabi ko worth it lahat ng pagod. Worth it lahat ng sakit.”

She is the daughter of the veteran celebrities of the entertainment industry, Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, and she is the niece of former Miss International Melanie Marquez.
