A former anti-illegal drugs police chief of San Juan City and his son were shot dead in Mandaluyong by unidentified suspects on Monday, August 21.
The victims were identified as Hoover Pascual, 54-years-old, former chief of San Juan anti-illegal drugs unit and his son Bryan Henrick Pascual, a 33-year-old businessman.
According to the report submitted to Senior Supt Joaquin Alva, Hoover, who came from his house, was driving his Mercedes Benz together with his Bryan and the latter’s girlfriend when an ambush happened.
The victims were along Blumentritt St. in Barangay Hulo, Mandaluyong when they were intercepted and cornered by a white van on board the suspects on Primo Cruz St. at around 1 a.m.
Based on the statement of Chief Insp. Norman dela Rosa, head of Mandaluyong City Police’s station investigation division as reported by Inquirer.net, one of the suspects first shot the driver’s side of the vehicle, later shot the other side of the car and eventually fired at the victims.
The former San Juan Anti-Illegal Drugs Police Chief was shot several times while his son was hit by stray bullets.
Bryan was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Sta. Mesa, Manila, however, the latter died.
Meanwhile, Pascual’s accomplishments and work before as anti-illegal drugs police chief is hinted as the reason behind the killing.
Authorities are still conducting an investigation on Pascual and his son’s death.
