63-Year-Old Filipina Family Driver Lucky With Employers In Kuwait

A Filipina family driver gets for lucky with her supportive Kuwaiti employers who treated her as a family for over 32 years now.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were facing a tough and difficult life of working abroad away from family. Most of them endure all the hardship and loneliness just to provide the financial needs of their family for a brighter future.

Previously, we’ve already heard of some Filipino workers abroad who were getting maltreated and abused by their employees, but there are also some OFW who was lucky enough to land on supportive employers.

Filipina Family Driver

Inay Viola, a 63-year-old family driver in Kuwait is one of the lucky OFWs who landed on a good employer and never experienced any act of abuse and harassment. Her employer has already treated her as a member of their family for over 32 years.

The OFW started to work as a domestic helper for the Al-Ghareeb family in Kuwait due to financial problems and a terrible economic situation in the Philippines due to the Marcos’ martial law, which makes their life harder after her husband died due to cancer.

In 1995, Viola worked as the driver of her employer and had been promoted to her excellent performance for the last 22 years driving her boss, dropping her employer’s kids at school, and running errands for the Al-Ghareeb family.

The Pinay driver also shared how her employer helped her family to pay all the bills amounting half a million pesos when her child gets hospitalized. Viola also said that she never experience being abused or harassed by her employers.

Thank God I was able to find a good employer. To me personally, they are like God’s angels. They helped my family a lot. If they wouldn’t have helped me, I would probably be under a huge debt for the rest of my life. When my youngest child was hospitalized, my employer paid all the hospital bills – almost half a million pesos,” said by Viola quoted by Kuwait Times.

The 63-year-old driver also said that she considers Kuwait as her second home and misses her employer whenever she is in the Philippines for vacation. She was also thankful for her employer for their goodness who makes her able to visit over 30 countries.
