Customer’s Lost Credit Card Allegedly Used By Mall Cashier, Spent More Than 48, 000

A mall cashier in Taguig identified as Merilyn Joy Gomez, 22-year-old allegedly used the credit card of one of her customer and spend about P48, 000.

On June 15, 2017, a customer with an alias of lost her credit card in a mall in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. April said that was the last time she used her credit card, but on June 19, 2017, she noticed that her credit card was gone.

April looked for it, but she failed, so she immediately reported it to the bank and authorities after two days. She even requested to block all the credit card transactions, but she found out that the mall cashier who found her card has already used it.

The mall cashier was identified as Merilyn Joy Gomez, 22-year-old who allegedly spent about P48, 000 using April’s credit card. Gomez explained that she was not the one who use the credit card, but it was her security guard friend and its live-in-partner.

Gomez is now facing a charge of violating the Access Devices Regulation Act while the authorities were hunting her conspirators.

The authorities remind the cardholders and cashiers to properly check the credit card with every transaction to ensure its authenticity and if it does really belong to the holder.
