Phivolcs: Ilocos Norte Struck By A Magnitude 3.0 Earthquake

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that Ilocos Norte was struck by a magnitude 3.0 earthquake on Friday (June 23, 2017).

On early Friday morning, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake hits the province of Ilocos Norte around 4:59 am. The tremor was located nine kilometers southwest of Adams and it was a tectonic origin. As of now, there are no damages or aftershocks were reported yet.

The volcanology agency also recorded a magnitude 2.6 quake in Isabela around 1:23 am also on early Friday morning. The quake was located 84 kilometers northeast of Devilacan. Fortunately, there are no damage or aftershocks were recorded.

Residents in the affected areas should remain on alert and observant for possible aftershocks after the quake. They also need to prepare for possible negative effects of the tremor.
