P10 Million Worth Of Illegal Drugs Recovered By Authorities On Ex-Marawi Mayor’s House

Marawi City – About two kilograms of illegal drugs were recovered by the government security forces from the house of former Marawi City mayor.

On Friday morning (June 23, 2017) around 10 am, the authorities seized about two kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or popularly known as “Shabu” from the house of Omar “Solitario” Ali, the former mayor of Marawi City who was allegedly funding the Maute Terror Group.

The two kilogram shabu recovered in Marawi City was estimated amounting P10 million, according to Chief Inspector William Santos of Philippine Drug Enforcement Group for Mindanao.

Santos also said that Ali was among their high value target as the financier of Maute Group, who started the deafening exchange of gun shots in Marawi City. Ali has been also tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as a narco-politician.

Ali was also a former commander of Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) aside from being a former mayor of Marawi City after losing his mayoral campaign. Ali also denied the accusation of President Duterte and explained that he is a God- fearing person.

Meanwhile, the entire region of Mindanao Island remains under martial law after the declaration of President Duterte due to the sporadic gun battle between the government forces and the Maute Terror Group in the beleaguered city.
