A leaked video reveals the real leader and mastermind of Maute group, which is now making rounds online after it was uploaded.
Marawi City is now facing a critical situation due to the terrorism caused by the Maute group fighting the government forces. The exchange of gun fires between the 2 groups when the government troops raided the hideout of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon, who call from reinforcement from the Maute terror group.
President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law throughout the entire region of Mindanao due to the extended gun battle between the two groups. He also linked the Maute group to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
The social media channel “PHILIPPINE NEWS ARMY” YouTube has uploaded a leaked video revealing the real leader and mastermind of the Maute terror group, which raises the concern of the Filipino people due to fear of terrorism.
In the video, it can be seen that the story of ISIS has been discussed and claiming that the group was using their religion to impose their political will.
In 1989, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian was trained in Afghanistan to become a Mujahideen (A Holy Warrior). In 1999, Zarqawi was recruited by Osama Bin Laden to join Al-Qaeda. When Bin Ladin and his troops lose to militaries in 2001, Zarqawi hid in Iraq.

The authorities have also raided Iraq in 2003, so Zarqawi formed the Jama’at al-tawhid w’al-Jihad. Zarqawi died in 2006 in an encounter with U.S forces in Baghdad, Iraq, but his group continued to fight.
In 2011, Abu-Bakr Al-Badhdadi regrouped them and call the new group as Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), which trained the former soldiers of Sadam Hossain as suicide bombers and created a base in Syria and rename the group as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
ISIS were fighting Christians and beheading their enemies and started to conquer some Southeast Asian countries. On February 01, 2014, the Philippine military confirmed that they have discovered the black flag in IPIFF camp, a sign that ISIS was trying to penetrate the country.
Isnilon Hapilon, the leader of Abu Sayyaf has been declared by Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi as the “Amir” or leader of ISIS in Southeast Asia.
General Miltiades Feliciano, the deputy chief of staff for civil military operation of Armed Forces of the Philippines said that the Maute clan is categorized into 3 groups including the religious group, legal business group, and illegal activities such as involvement in manufacturing illegal substance.
The Maute Group was founded by siblings Omar and Abdula Maute who originally named as Daulah Islamiah or eventually known as the Maute Terror Group. The siblings were the descendants of the Maranao warrior clan in Butig.
Omar and Abdula were former members of the group known as Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). There are also some reports indicates that the Maute group also carries the black flag as insignia of the ISIS.
