The flag of every country is a sacred item for it holds great significance for it says a lot about the country it signifies. It was not just a  simple symbol but it  is also a way the country portrays itself to the world.

The flag also proclaims sovereignty over the people of the country and possession of the land.

Netizens were saying that the one responsible for the ‘disrespect’ should be punished.

One Facebook user indicated, “Noon Boy Scout pa kami, kapag sumayad ang Bandila natin sa lupa ang hirap ng parusa tapos ngaun ipantatakip lang sa aso…dapat maparusahan ang gumawa nyan…”

One netizen even said that the act is ‘scandalous’.

There was even a law regarding  the issue and  it is called Republic 8491 which is “AN ACT PRESCRIBING THE CODE OF THE NATIONAL FLAG, ANTHEM, MOTTO, COAT-OF-ARMS AND OTHER HERALDIC ITEMS AND DEVICES OF THE PHILIPPINES”.

And  based on the section 34 of the law, “It  shall be prohibited to use the flag as a drapery,  festoon,  table cloth, covering for ceilings, walls, statues or other objects.”  (Click site for reference)
