Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Hits Loay, Bohol, According To USGS

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hits Loay, Bohol, which raised the concern of the residents.

Previously, different regions in the Philippines have already experienced consecutive powerful tremors, which raised the concern of Filipinos and feared that it might be an indication that the “Big One” earthquake is near.

On Saturday (May 20, 2017), USGS announced that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hits 23-kilometer S of Loay, Bohol around 9:06 am.

Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the quake’s epicenter was traced 28 kilometers southwest of Lila, Bohol with a depth of 551 kilometers.

Phivolcs also said that Intensity 1 was felt in Catbalogan and Borongan in Eastern Samar, aftershocks are expected. There has been no report of damages as of this post.

  1. Prepare well and remember dont ride out the quake indoors ,go to open areas where nothing can fall on you.Dont be a hero trying to save property as that can be replaced,human life can not be replaced.God be with you all
