Filipino Doctor Responds To Call Of Duty During Flight, Find Out What Happened

Dr. Lawrence Lipana helped a sick passenger on flight.

LAWRENCE LIPANA – Filipino Doctor Lawrence Lipana responded to a call of duty while he was on a flight bound for New Jersey.

Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, the plane which Dr. Lawrence Lipana is one of the passengers was from San Jose International Airport and it was heading to Newark International Airport when the emergency happened.

An announcement about the need of a medical doctor or nurse came around thirty minutes after the plane’s takeoff as one of the flight passengers suffer from abdominal pain, light-headedness, and difficulty in breathing.

According to the news report, Lipana was his father-in-law’s memorial service that time thus he was lacking sleep, tired, and hungry. Yet, his situation did not stop him from responding to a call of duty.

The young doctor presented an id that shows an MD after his name to prove that he’s a doctor as he knows that he looks very young.

Lipana expressed that during that time, he was geared with a jacket with a ‘Yale Anesthesiology’ on the front. At Yale University, Lipana is a resident anesthesiologist.

“I was I nervous because this was my first time on the plane where I was the only physician,” he said.

Based on the news report, the doctor attended to the sick passenger and (–foul word(s) removed–)sed her situation. He also got the girl’s history and her family and he also determined if there is a need for an emergency landing.

Through a radio, Lipana was able to converse with an emergency room doctor. According to Lipana, he felt comfortable with the thought that the medical staff, the pilot and the crew were on his side.

“I felt comfortable that we could work as a team,” he expressed.

Based on the news report, the young Filipino physician wowed the ER doctor.
