Edmundo Parungao allegedly shot himself after an arrest.
Edmundo Parungao, the father of Miss World Philippines 2015 Hillarie Danielle Parungao, passed away inside the police station of Solano in Nueva Vizcaya.
Based on a recent news report in The Philippine Star, the father of the beauty queen, Edmundo Parungao as identified by Chief Inspector Billy Mangali, allegedly grabbed a pistol and shot himself in the mouth while he was in the police station.
He was nabbed by the authorities last Tuesday during a buy bust operation. Three sachets of illegal drugs were allegedly taken from the 46-year-old businessman.
According to the news report, police report stated that Parungao’s handcuffs were taken after he complained of feeling pain in his chest. After a while, he took Police Officer 2 Baccay’s Glock 9mm pistol. Baccay escorted him that time.
The Chief Inspector expressed that Parungao, who has already yielded before during the implementation of Oplan Tokhang, passed away on the spot based on the news report.
The result of Parungao’s autopsy and paraffin test are awaited by the local police authorities.
Parungao’s daughter, the Miss World Philippines 2015, took to the social media a tribute to her father.
Hillarie posted on her Facebook account a collage of four photos with a caption “I love you, always and forever” according to the report. Two of the photos in the collage that was posted in the online platform showed Hillarie together with her dad.
After winning the crown and being hailed as the Miss World 2015, the younger Parungao, a Filipino-Chinese print and commercial model and as well as television presenter, competed and finished her Miss World journey held in Sanya, China in the Top 11.
