Willy Cruz: Philippines’ Top Songwriter , Dies

The country’s top songwriter, Wilfredo Buencamino Cruz or popularly known as Willy Cruz passed away at the age of 70.

According to an article published by Inquirer.net, his colleagues went to social media to lament the death of the latter.

Willy Cruz came to prominence as the composer of many renowned songs rendered by popular singers including Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Nonoy Zuniga, Hajji Alejandro, Pilita Corales and Superstar Nora Aunor.

Among the hit singles, he composed are the following: “Bituing Walang Ningning”, “Never Ever Say Goodbye”, “Sana’y Wala ng Wakas”, and “Kahit Na.”

Meanwhile, Nonoy Gallardo, one of the closest friends of Willy Cruz expressed his condolences to the great songwriter via Facebook noting that he is now in eternal peace. He also asked the netizens to offer a prayer for the late songwriter.

On the other hand, Jungee Marcelo, described the phenomenal composer as he bids goodbye to the latter in a Facebook post as “one of his songwriting heroes.”

Willy Cruz is one of the most awarded and among the prolific songwriter for movies and has composed the scores for more than a hundred films.
