Pulse Asia: President Duterte’s Performance Ratings And Trust Worthiness Declined In The First Quarter Of 2017

Pulse Asia’s survey results show that President Duterte’s performance and trust ratings have declined in the first quarter of 2017.

The latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia shows that the performance rating of President Rodrigo Duterte has declined. About 8 out of 10 Filipinos or 78 percent of Filipino people still appreciates the effort of the president, which is five points lower compared to the 83 percent points recorded last December 2016.

While the trust rating of the president fell from 83 percent in the last quarter of 2016 down to 76 percent in March 2017, which was 7 points lower compared to his trust rating last year.

Around 1, 200 people aging 18-year-old and above was interviewed face-to-face during the survey, which was held last March 15 – 20, 2017. The survey results used a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent points at 95 percent confidence level.

The president garnered his highest performance and trust ratings in Davao with 90 percent and 88 percent in entire Mindanao. His lowest rating came from the rest of Luzon areas with 71 and 67 percent.

The trustworthiness and performance rating of Mr. Duterte remain generally unchanged since December 2016 up to March 2017, exempting the 7 points fall in his national trust scores.

“There are hardly any changes in the performance and trust ratings of President Duterte during the period December 2016 to March 2017. The only significant movement occurring at this time is the drop in the President’s national trust rating (negative seven percentage points),” said by Pulse Asia quoted by Philstar.

The top issues such as the anti-illegal drug campaign, passing the death penalty, impeachment complaints against Duterte, De Lima’s arrest on drug charges, and other political issues has been listed by Pulse Asia during the survey period.

The senators believe that the survey ratings of President Duterte were still strong despite the decrease of his ratings during the first quarter of the year.
