Filipinos Will No Longer Work Need To Work Abroad, Duterte OFWs

President Rodrigo Duterte aims that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) can work closer to home and no one would need to work abroad anymore.

Most Filipinos were forced to work abroad due to small salary and lack of opportunity in the country. Although working abroad offers big salary monthly, but OFWs were not happy living their loved ones in the country for the sake of finances.

During the state visit of the president in Bangkok, Thailand, the Filipino community applauded upon Duterte’s arrival at the Chaopraya Room. The Filipino audience were unstoppable from filling the venue with thunderous cheers and screams, despite Thai police warning to sit or get kicked out.

The OWF’s screams get louder when he reveals his wish for every OFWs in the country. He said that his dreaming for all Filipinos to work inside the Philippines closer to their home, families, friends, and relatives.

President Duterte earns cheers and applause from the Filipino community converged at the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters in Bangkok over his wish for Filipinos to work inside the country. But he admits that it would not happen overnight.

“Ang dream ko sa Pilipinas, hindi ko na maaabot ‘yan, pero sisimulan ko. In 10 years, hindi na kayo lalabas [ng bansa],” said by Duterte before the almost 2,000 Filipinos quoted by Manila Bulletin.

Mr. Duterte also assured the Filipino community in Thailand that his administration will start to work out the proposal and the interest of the public until the end of his presidential term, which draw cheers from the audience.

The president’s 2-hour speech was filled with jokes all the time, which draw laughter from the audience. The Filipino audience thought that Mr. Duterte is serious with his job for the better economy.

All we can do for now is to hope that President Duterte could provide a better job for the Filipinos, so they don’t need to work abroad anymore.
