Cebu City Mayor Claims BDO Branch Paid Only P35 In Business Taxes For 2015

Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña revealed the alleged amount of business taxes paid by a BDO branch in 2015.

Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña claimed in his post that a BDO branch paid only Php. 35.00 in business taxes for 2015.

The social media post which has hooked the online community can be found in the Facebook page Tommy Osmeña.  Based on the post, the BDO branch in Jones paid only P35.00 in business taxes for 2015.

The Cebu City Mayor clarified that it is “THIRTY FIVE pesos” and not P35-million or P35 thousand.

“They shouldn’t be shut down daw because “kawawa yung employees,” the Cebu City Mayor stated in his post.

Mayor Osmeña tagged the ordinary workers as “hostages” that are being utilized by the billionaires for them to disobey what is established in the law.

He emphasized that the wages of the workers are automatically deducted by tax deductions while their heads are doing “magic first”. The City Mayor stressed the line of BDO in his post, “We find ways.”

According to the City Mayor, he also finds ways. He stressed that he is a father who is responsible to make up for his family’s needs.

Furthermore, Mayor Osmeña stated in his post that the kids who are on the streets will not be taken care of, the police authorities and the firemen will not be equipped, the roads will not be repaired, and the garbage will not be gathered without taxes.

“BDO is run by tax-evaders and law breakers. They will be shut down,” the Cebu City Mayor stated in his post.

According to him, if the company really looks after those people who are employed in their business, “they should sell their branch to another bank” so their workers will not lose their jobs.

He stressed in his post the hope that “the new management might install chairs.”

The post went viral on the social media. It has already reached more than six thousand shares in less than a day since it has crossed the online platform. Lots of netizens dropped their reactions to the post via comments.

According to a Facebook user, the matter explains why the wealthy ones become even wealthier and how those who only have little go poorer.

One netizen stated in her comment that it is unfair as small businesses just like the sari-sari stores pay more than the amount allegedly paid by the BDO branch.
