The National House Authority (NHA) told the informal settlers that they have 1 week to leave the stolen houses in Bulacan, which was meant for urban poor.

On Friday (March 10, 2017), NHA warn the homeless people who occupied the government projects to leave the houses in 7 days or else they will face the consequence. The houses in Bulacan was meant for the residents removed from the creeks of Metro Manila.

NHA Central Luzon manager Rommel Alimboyao said during a dialog that the informal settlers will receive eviction notice next week. Alimboyao assured that the petition of the homeless families for housing projects, which was previously neglected by the government will be resolved this time.

Informal Settlers

Last Wednesday (March 08, 2017), around 5, 000 informal settlers from different places in Metro Manila and Bulacan together with the members of Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) forcibly take over 4, 000 government houses.

The informal settlers occupied the houses in Villa Louise in Brgy. Cacarong Matanda, Padre Pio in Cacarong Bata in Pandi, Pandi Village 2 in Brgy. Mapulang Lupa, Villa Elise in Brgy. Masuso, and several houses in San Jose Heights in San Jose del Monte City.

The houses in the Villa Elise was allocated for the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), according to Army 48th Infantry Batallio commander Col. Ramil Anoyo.

Meanwhile, NHA was conducting an investigation on some reports that informal settlers occupied the government houses to discredit the Duterte administration. Kadamay national chair Gloria Arellano asserted that no one manipulates them, they occupied the houses because the government has taken so long to grant the homeless people’s appeal for housing.

Arellano also urged the NHA to allow the homeless families to temporarily stay in the houses while their housing applications were being processed.
