Canned foods and other food products price were set to increase, due to increased price of raw materials and depreciation of the peso.

Filipino people were one of the most consumers of canned goods and other food products, which already becomes of their primary foods. Most of the food products were ready to eat or easy to cook.

It is also quite cheaper compared to raw foods, which will also take time for cooking. Food products contain lesser nutrient contents due to its preservatives compared to natural foods, which are more nutritious because it is always fresh.

According to manufacturers, the prices of food products in the Philippines was set to increase due to different reasons including increased prices of raw materials, global oil, prices, and depreciation of the Philippines, which affects the country’s economy.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) also confirmed the increased price of several products in the markets nationwide. Canned sardines would increase P0.25 per can, while powdered adult milk, biscuit, candy, and disinfectant products would climb by 1 to 3 percent.

The increase in the prices of food products will surely affect the Filipinos, especially the poor one who only relies on canned goods and other cheaper food products for their daily consumption.
