Former Senator Madrigal, Congresswomen Alonte Tried To Bribe Bilibid Inmates. DOJ Secretary Aguirre Says

Former Senator Jamby Madrigal and Congresswomen Len-Len Alonte tried to bribe inmates in New Bilibid Prison (NBP), according to Aguirre.

Former Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said that the former senator Madrigal and incumbent Biñan City congresswoman Alonte-Naguiat attempted to bribe the inmates in the national penitentiary.

The two were allegedly offered P100 million to the Bilibid inmates to retract the statement that they had previously presented against Senator Leila De Lima, who was linked to the proliferation of illegal drugs at Bilibid and allegedly coddling drug lords, according to Aguirre.

Aguirre also said that based on the offered by Madrigal and Alonte they were desperate to make the inmates to renounced their statement against De Lima before celebrating the upcoming anniversary of Edsa People Power.

The new Justice Secretary said that Madrigal has a relative who refers Alonte. The congresswoman has allegedly directly contacted the high-profile inmates to convince them to renounce their testimony against the senator.

Previously, DOJ secretary Aguirre also said that the high-profile inmates refused to accept the big amount offered by Madrigal and Alonte. The inmates chose to stand with their statement and testimonies against De Lima, for her alleged involvement in illegal drug proliferation.
