Recently, a news report broke in entailing that the PH bet in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant has mistakenly referred to former First Lady Imelda Marcos as the inventor of Terno.

Based on a recent news report in GMA News Online, Philippines’ bet at the 65th Miss Universe preliminary contest committed a little mistake during the show’s recorded part.

The event at Vigan in which the designs and skills of Filipinos were showcased as the Miss Universe candidates wore the ternos was documented in a video. Medina referred to the former First Lady as the inventor of Terno according to the report.

The terno cannot be credited to one person alone according to the research made by Mark Lewis Higgins and Gino Gonzales based on the report. It has been published in the book “Fashionable Filipinas”.

Dating back to 1800s before the former First Lady has been born into this world, there were pictures showing women wearing terno as stated.

Furthermore, the Philippines’ bet also mistakenly detailed that ‘terno, which is made up of saya and pañuelo, is a single-piece clothing according to the report.
